San Jose Heritage Rose Gardens

I visited San Jose in order to see the gardens and especially to visit with all the people that I knew from rec.gardens.roses. Lynn and I both had a wonderful time. Unfortunately, my camera's light meter was not working, so I took very few pictures. Also, so many roses, where do you start? Or stop? I loved every minute of my trip.

Here are three pictures of the garden, from the left, center, and right, in a panoramic view. This garden is run entirely by volunteer labor. Amazing achievement. Not amazing that it was achieved, but the gardens themselves are amazing.

This is a picture of Souvenir de la Madame Lionie Vienot, a climbing Tea. I have this rose, but I think that a late freeze blasted all of the buds for this year. Bummer.
I think this is Fruelingsduft, but don't bet money on it. Don'tcha just hate it when people can't remember which rose it is???
No labels for these roses. The pillar reminds me of a Grimms Fairy Tale that my grandmother used to read me called "Snow White and Rose Red". They were two sisters, one dark, one light. The each had a rose in the garden and the two roses grew and mingled together. No relation to "Snow White and the Seven Dwarves".
