This is the page on my newest hobby, quilting. I have only a few things in the works, shown below. Hopefully, the list will grow with time.
July 20, 2001 This is the design for my Black, White and Red Quilt. I am considering calling it "Frog in a Blender" or "Miami Herald" for obscure reasons of my own.

March 19, 2001 Just finished this fish wallhanging top today and I'm so excited about it. I designed it start to finish, and used only fabrics from my stash. The top three fish and the turquoise background fabric was fabric I dyed myself. This quilt is part of my challenge class assignment, which was to make a top using the four-patch birds in the air block.

Here is a link to RQ2. The image was taken with a digital camera, which is why it is such poor quality. I took several pictures in indirect light with my 35MM camera, and I'll put those up when I have them.
First thing is first. Below is the first quilt I've finished. It was made in a beginning quilting class taken at The Patchwork Place in Norman, OK. I just recently finished it. When I did, I took it from room to room, from the bed to the reading chair to the TV chair like Linus with his security blanket.

It's machine quilted, machine pieced. That's Michael peeking out from behind it.
This just in. I just finished piecing the top of my Margaritaville quilt! I found two 1 yard pieces (as opposed on one 2 yard piece...) at the quilt show in Arlington, TX. I just loved it at first sight. It not only said "buy me", but also said, "My name is Margaritaville." Well, since it had the audacity to jump into my hands and name itself, I was honor-bound to make a quilt out of it. I chose a butter yellow fossils print, and a bright deep turquoise. Originally, I wanted to make the fancy print blocks into snowballs, but since the blocks had to be nine inches to get enough blocks out of the print, the corners of a snowball would have taken too much out of the fancy print. I plan to add a once inch yellow inner border and then a three inch turquoise border. I'm tired of sewing long seams right now, so I'm takin' a break. Jan. 16, 1999.

This is my current UFO (unfinished object), the back and front halves of a Seminole Jacket. I used traditonal colors. The reason it is unfinished is that I did not like the way the sleeves looked and want to re-do them completely. Have not worked on them in a while.

As you can see, I like bright colors! Some day I hope to finish it, but I'm just not in the mood to work on it right now.
I just finished this hand appliqued pillow for Grandma. Going to mail it to her for Chrismas (1998). It is in colors to match her sofa, but I think the shades of peach I chose are a bit brighter than her sofa. I had a hard time picking out the fabric, because peach is NOT a color that I like. However, I like it better now that I made this pillow.

One of my Works-in-Progress, a blue and gold sampler quilt with all star blocks. When I lined these blocks up to take a picture, I remembered how much I like them together, so I figure I'll be working on them again soon. I used the Marti Mitchell Perfect Patchwork templates on many of these. Those templates make the block fit together so easily!
Is this a work in progress or an unstarted project? Can't tell. This block is a test block for a two colored quilt with 8-pointed stars. There will be stars alternating with a blank block of the background color, 7 x 9 blocks. The other stars that I make will have the background streaks going in all the same direction. Anal? Me? :::batting eyes innocently:::

Lastly, some Christmas things I've played around with. I may make a wall hanging out of the cardinals, eventually. I don't expect to get anything done this year. No pressure, that's my motto. The Christmas tree was done on a paper piecing pattern in McCalls quilting magazine. That pattern made me cuss so much... I don't think I'm cut out for paper piecing much. I have some mini-ornaments that I will attach someday. The le Moyne star is my first attempt at that kind of block, with set in seams. Worked out pretty good, I think.

Where do I do my work? I have an open plan living room with a big area by the back patio door which was mostly unusable, until I put my sewing desk and cupboard there, that is. Here is a picture of it when it's in use. I have a cutting table against the wall which I expand one leaf when needing to rotary cut. I put it out all the way when I need the entire surface. The fabric is sorta gouped together by color. I have to rummage a lot when looking for a particular piece. Someday a sewing room, but we'd have to add onto the house...
