Therese Bugnet

A rugosa hybrid with very old rose flowers. It is usually the first to come into bloom in my garden, though sometimes beat out by Old Blush. The books say that it has a clove scent. I always smelled rose scent, but one evening I took a big sniff and had a sneezing fit. Yes, it smelled like I'd stuck my nose in a jar of cloves. The scent was strong, too. My Therese is also suckering out everywhere. I will dig up the youn'uns and plant them arount the perimeter. She's tough enouth to be used as a hedge rose.
